This was sad news to hear. I went to Lincoln School with David. I have been unable to find an obituary for David online so I don't know when he passed.
I'm not on Facebook (still a camera shy "senior" I guess) so if anyone has any information to share, please do.
I found quite a few videos and articles about Chef David Reardon online. How great to see a graduate of BHS appreciate and put to use his culinary skills. BHS really did have a great food service program.
Sending a Shout Out to everyone from Lincoln School Class of 1972 - Keep a good memory of David in your heart from those long ago days.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, David B. Reardon, loving husband and father of four died unexpectedly at the age of 61. David was born September 26, 1958 to Richard and Joan Reardon in Boston Massachusetts.
David lived a full and extraordinary life. He was a famed chef in the hospitality industry with a career that spanned over 40 years. When David was six-years-old, he traded his G.I. Joe for his sister’s Easy-Bake Oven. At age 14, he won his first cooking competition at Brookline High School Culinary Arts Program. His accomplishments are endless and include gold, silver and bronze medals in the prestigious IKA/HOGA Culinary Olympics. He was a member of the International Epicurean World Master Chef Society from 1990 to 1996, and competed in Ireland, England and France. He competed in over 30 American Culinary Federation Competitions, winning numerous honors and medals, and has cooked at the James Beard House in New York.
David spent years at some of the world’s most prestigious hotels, but it was his September 2000 arrival in Santa Barbara that would shape his life. At the legendary Bacara Resort and Spa, he not only served as the executive chef for over 10 years but he also found his home. In Santa Barbara, he raised his son Kennedy and daughter Kelsey. He later met his wife Natalie while working at the iconic Resort. They married there on August 4, 2013 and welcomed their son Kellan in 2014.
Throughout his career those who were lucky enough to work alongside David can speak to his loyalty, genuine care and love for his employees. He wore his heart on his sleeve and his passion and innovation will be greatly missed in the culinary world.
However his greatest achievement by far was being a father to his children who he loved and would have done anything for. His legacy will live on through them.
When you were in David’s light you shined with him. When you were loved by David, you felt it deeply. When you are cooking, think of David and cook with your heart and remember our husband, father, brother, cousin and friend.
David was preceded in death by his father Richard, his best friend and cousin Joseph Arsenault, sister Mary and his beloved mother Joan (McCaffrey) Reardon. He’s survived by his wife Natalie and his four children Matt, Kennedy (Krista Stone, mother), Kelsey (Krista Stone, mother) and Kellan, his siblings Richard, James, and Tina and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Due to the current Pandemic, we will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Please save any flowers or donations until then.
